This Week’s Big News For The Prospect Studio!

Meet the new PPHY Prospect Studio owners, Sarah & Adrian!

We are so excited to share the PPHY journey with them and we are very proud of their next step! The Prospect studio is popular for it’s friendly, welcoming vibes and happy instructors, and we know that Sarah and Adrian will be a great asset to this already successful studio! Just to keep everybody up to date, we chatted with the new owners about yoga, travel and their hopes for the Prospect studio!

Tell us a bit about yourselves!

We both grew up in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and now live in Prospect. We have been married for 5 years and have travelled extensively through USA ,Europe, Asia and Australia. I have previously worked in Cambodia and will be travelling to Vanuatu again in May this year to be part of a volunteer dental training team, which should be interesting and very rewarding! Also, we are both qualified hot yoga teachers!

How long have you been practicing yoga?

Sarah: My first ever yoga experience was 15 years ago with the Geri Halliwell (aka ginger spice) yoga DVD’s at home… well, we all have to start somewhere! I first tried hot yoga 10 years ago and have been practicing ever since.

Adrian: Since Sarah first dragged me along to a hot yoga class 3 years ago and I vowed never to return! And here we are now both hot yoga teachers and now studio owners!

How long have you been practicing with Peak Physique Hot Yoga?

We have both been practicing consistently for the past 8 months after returning from Overseas.

Is Hot Yoga the only form of yoga your practice?

With our busy lives at the moment we don’t have much time to focus on other styles, but later this year we plan to travel to Bali to further our practice in other types and forms of yoga.

What have you done previous to owning your own yoga studio?

Sarah: Adrian is a Physiotherapist and I am a Dentist, so we both have a background in health, which works well with yoga teaching! We both absolutely love our day jobs and were not giving them up, just incorporating even more of the things we love into our working lives !

What made you decide to take this journey with Peak Physique Hot Yoga?

We are passionate about educating people that many of the health problems we see on a daily basis can be prevented just by taking better care of our bodies and our minds! We have tried every form of fitness over the years but believe hot yoga is one of the best ways to do this because of the way it incorporates mindfulness with a physical workout and a more conscious approach to nutrition.

We wanted to spread the word about the benefits of yoga, and make it more affordable so that our patients, families, friends and communities can all enjoy a better quality of life!

Upon meeting Mike and Suz, we realised that we all shared the same goal! So we started the exciting process of working together with PPHY!

Do you do any sports/other forms of exercise?

Adrian: I have played soccer for most of my life, and i run regularly. I am currently taking some time off from soccer to focus more on my yoga.

Sarah: I do a bit of everything but I really enjoy water sports and skiing.

We both combine our yoga with home gym workouts and lots of dog walks with our fur child, Stella!

What results have you had from your yoga practice?

Adrian: When I first started, I had a hamstring and groin injury and I was totally inflexible. I couldn’t sit in any position on the floor. I had considered surgery to improve this however I have found that due to my practice, these injuries have almost completely resolved! My flexibility has improved dramatically so that I am now able to teach (nearly) all the poses comfortably.

Sarah: I have found that I am less stressed and I have a lot more positivity in my life. My lower back pain has improved and I enjoy the increased amount of energy and physical benefits of hot yoga as well.

Why do you work well together?

Sarah: When we initially met, Adrian was very calm, organised and a bit more reserved. I was a bit more fiery, outgoing and willing to try everything. Over the 10 years we have been together, we have both taken on some of the traits of each other to become a great team.

What are you most looking forward to about owning your own studio?

We are most looking forward to spending more time interacting with likeminded people – all of our inspiring teachers and students who come to the studio with the intention to bring more health and positivity into their lives! We’re also excited about working with the amazing group of people who make up the PPHY team!

Will you be changing much about the studio?

We aim to make some improvements to the internal fit out to make the surroundings even more peaceful and inviting, and will hopefully be adding even more classes to the timetable, including more Vinyasa and blend classes to keep our students practice and fitness improving! 😉

What is your favourite yoga pose??! 🙂

Sarah: Wheel

Adrian: Trikonasana

Looking forward to seeing you all in the studio and on the mat

Namaste
