Here at PPHY, we are animal lovers – especially when it comes to our canine companions. We know that lots of our students also adore their pups, and many of us count our furry friends as our favourite yoga buddies. Dog are awesome – there’s a reason why so many of the poses are named after them! So, we thought we would share a one of our favourite dog treat recipes – because dogs deserve healthy, homemade snacks as well!
1/2 cup of roast pumpkin, mashed
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
Mash the pumpkin and peanut butter together in a bowl. TIP: it helps if the pumpkin is still warm!
Add the egg and stir until smooth.
Add the flour and stir until the mixture is a dough-like constancy. TIP: if it is too sticky, add 1/4 cup more of flour until you can form a dough ball).
Roll the dough out on a floured base, using a rolling pin. Roll it out until it is about 1cm thick.
Use a cookie cutter to cut out the treats. A bone shape is best, but if you don’t have one, your dog wont mind too much! 😉
Place the cutouts onto a greased pan and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Take the treats out from the oven and place them on a cooling rack.
Allow to cool completely before giving them to your pup!
