Meet the new studio owner of PPHY Glen Osmond

Have you heard the big news? Peak Physique Hot Yoga is opening up a new studio in Glen Osmond, SA! We’re ecstatic to be expanding our team and to welcome new studio owner, Kirsty, to our PPHY family.

Kirsty has had a colourful and diverse career, being an ESL teacher, a business development manager for the Australian Trade Commission in Korea, a media personality, a social worker and a hypnotherapist specialising in anxiety, grief and trauma. Wow! She is also currently training in hypnobirthing and pregnancy yoga. Amongst all this, she has now turned her talents to yoga teaching and taken the next step by deciding to run her own yoga studio.

“It is important to remember that yoga is more than just asana — it is a way of being, living and practicing in each and every moment of every day.”

Kirsty has been practicing different elements of yoga throughout the course of her life. “I have practiced yoga in the broad sense of meditation, lifestyle and philosophy for most of my life,” she says, “It is important to remember that yoga is more than just asana — it is a way of being, living and practicing in each and every moment of every day.”

Kirsty is a trained yoga teacher in Hatha (levels 1 and 2) and has recently undergone the PPHY teacher training program. “I have a strong desire to create a supportive community and environment where students and teachers (including myself and my family) can live, practice and work within a yogic lifestyle.”

Despite her repertoire of talents, Kirsty prefers to see herself as a facilitator, rather than a teacher. “I work with the students as they go on their own physical, emotional and perhaps even spiritual journey – all of which are aspects of the yogic life,’ she says. Kirsty is looking forward to incorporating her hypnotic and meditative skills and knowledge into her classes. She believes owning her own studio will allow her to embrace the physical aspect of a yogic lifestyle and bring this into her work and personal life. “Our bodies and minds are not separate entities,” she explains, “in order to reach our full potential, it is important that we work on the physical and mental scope of our being.”

“I have a strong desire to create a supportive community and environment where students and teachers can live, practice and work within a yogic lifestyle.”

The Glen Osmond studio is sure to be a place of good vibes, ambiance self-learning and expert guidance. Kirsty had practiced many different forms of yoga including Ashtanga, hot yoga, Bikram yoga and Hatha yoga. “I like the diverse range of classes and teachers within the PPHY network,” she says of why she chose to open a PPHY studio, “I also like the convenience of being able to attend more than one location at a reasonable price.”

When Kirsty first decided to contact Mike & Suz about the franchise opportunities, she admits that she wasn’t initially serious about it, but very curious. “I am a firm believer in following my intuition,” she says, “and after a couple of phone calls and a face to face meetings with Mike and Suz, I was in love with the idea and their passion for embracing a yogic lifestyle within our modern, fast-paced world.” She found that she shared a lot of Mike and Suz’s views on life and what it means to make a career out of what you love. “I recognised that Mike and Suz had a wealth of knowledge to share and a congruent and genuine approach in their personal and professional values and ethics, which is something I hold very dear to my own heart. I must say — the experience of working with Mike and Suz and the whole Peak Physique community so far has been an absolute pleasure!”

Kirsty hopes to add her own touches to the PPHY Glen Osmond studio, just like the existing studio owners have done. Each studio has started to develop it’s own ‘specialty’ according to their students’ needs, which is awesome to see. “I hope to offer pregnancy yoga, hypnobirthing, kids yoga, meditation classes and trauma/ grief sensitive yoga classes in the near future as well as our mainstream classes,” says Kirsty.“I hope that the studio will have a glowing and vibrant atmosphere so that people only have to walk through the door and they can feel calm, relaxed, grounded and better connected.

Welcome to the team, Kirsty!
