If you’re a student at the PPHY Marion studio, you will know that over the past few weeks, the Marion studio has been doing a pink-themed fundraiser for breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women throughout Australia. In fact, one in eight Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the time they reach the age of 85. Here at PPHY, we are all about health and fitness and strive to encourage people to make their wellbeing a priority and to prevent illness in their own lives.
With this mentality in mind, PPHY Marion studio owners Terrie and Matt decided to do fundraiser to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer during the month of May. They donated $5 from the sale of every pink mat or pink towel, and have raised over $100 for the foundation!
“Everyone has a Mum, a sister, a daughter or a friend who is fighting the breast cancer battle. These days it has become personal with most of us affected in some way by cancer, which is why we wanted to have a fundraiser to support the cause and help find a cure”
The money raised will go to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, which is the leading community-funded organisation for breast cancer research and prevention. The charity also works to help those living with breast cancer, as well as those who are supporting someone living with breast cancer. Since yoga is all about health, it was only fitting for some of our studios to participate in raising money for such a great cause!
Well done to Terrie and Matt, as well as all the PPHY staff, students and followers who helped by buying a pink yoga mat or towel during the month of May!
