When it comes to your morning routine, we know that old habits are hard to break- especially if you are addicted to caffeine! While we believe that coffee is ok in small doses, we also know that caffeine can be addictive, dehydrating (not good for your hot yoga practice!) and bad for your calcium levels. We also avoid dairy (unless it is organic) because of the hormones that are pumped into most store-bought brands! Instead, we like to mix things up with a few alternatives!
Suz: I do enjoy the occasional ‘Mike’s Macchiato’ (espresso shot with cold soya Milk). However a matcha green tea 6 mornings a week gets my energy lifted like you wouldn’t believe!
Mike: I prefer a wheatgrass shot for it’s high protein content and amino acids! Awesome for before or after a gym session!

Known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties, including turmeric in your morning pick-me-up will help you feeling healthy! Just place a cup of unsweetened almond milk, 1 teaspoon turmeric, ½ teaspoon chili, ½ teaspoon ginger powder and one teaspoon of rice malt syrup (or honey) in a saucer and bring to simmer for 10 minutes! An easy and healthy way to start the day!
If you think you’re not a tea drinker, we challenge you to give it another go. There are sooooooo many different types out there! Green tea is especially beneficial because it speeds up the metabolism and helps with weight-loss! Just one good reason to give it a go!
