Fit Bites Recipe

Have you ever been caught in that awkward no-eating period before a hot yoga class? You’re one hour away from stepping on the mat and you know that eating a meal is simply not an option… but you’re hungry! You’re worried that you wont have the energy to complete the class, but you know you shouldn’t eat anything too heavy incase you feel sick during your forward folds!

We have been caught in this situation more than a few times (as we are sure all hot yoga-lovers have!) and we know it can be tricky! Our answer? Smoothies and healthy snacks can be a really good solution here – but you do have to be careful when it comes to snacks.

What you need is something that has a LOT of energy and will fill you up… but is also quite small and will digest easily… just like our ‘fit bites!’ Little balls full of protein, healthy fats and carbs (no sugar!) to give you that little boost before hot yoga – without making you feel sick during it!

Ingredients:

½ cup oats

1 cup peanut butter (or any other nut butter)

½ cup rice malt syrup

½ cup LSA mix (or almond meal)

1 cup raw cacao powder

1 Tbsp coconut oil

1 Tbsp water

Method:

Mix all of the dry ingredients together except for half of the cacao powder.

*TIP: For a smoother consistency, put the dry ingredients through a blender for a few seconds 🙂

 

Add the wet ingredients and mix into a dough. You may need to add water as needed – the mixture should allow you to roll into small balls, about the size of a table tennis ball, without sticking to your hands.

 

Coat the balls in the remaining cacao powder and refrigerate for half an hour before eating.

 

Keep the balls in the fridge. Makes about 15

 

 

Now you have the perfect snack for before a hot yoga class… as well as the perfect reward for after a hot yoga class, if you like! Sugar free, full of energy and very, very tasty!

 

Remember: Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring!
