5 Yoga Poses For Happiness

What greater goal in life is there than happiness? It is something that many of us have to work for, but the results of working towards inner happiness can be the most beautiful and purest reward of all. Sometimes, it can be hard to define what happiness means to us as individuals, especially when the world we live in can interfere with that. We are constantly told my our environment and by consumer-driven platforms that we want to be richer, thinner, more powerful, more in control...

Yoga and meditation help us to clear out heads of all this noise, and focus on our inner voice. In this way, we can start to search for what it is that truly ignights our spirit! For many, the practice of yoga itself is what makes them happy, and here are a few poses that have been known to put a smile on the faces of yogis everywhere!

 

Happy Baby

The name speaks for itself, really! You can’t help but feel a little bit giggly in this pose, and although it might look and feel a little silly, it has heaps of health benefits! These include stress relief, a good stretch through the hamstrings and release through the lower back.

 Upward Facing Dog

Known as an uplifting pose, upward facing dog has been known to help with the treatment of mild depression and anxiety. It opens up through the chest and heart and improves posture.

Easy Pose (Sukhasana)

Many yoga classes start out in this pose, as it is highly accessible and comfortable for most. This is a centring pose, often used in meditative practices. This pose calms the mind and allows you to start clearing your thoughts, refocusing your goals and discovering what makes you happy.

 Bow pose

All backbends are energizing and uplifting – as long as we do them correctly and with control! Bow pose is a floor series backbend that can help with insomnia and migraines – both prime suspects for causing happiness levels to drop!

Plow pose

Plow pose is awesome for clearing the mind and improving blood flow to the brain. It is also beneficial for the releief of menstrual cramps and bloating.
